These Terms apply to Club-organised:

  • Matches
  • Training events
  • Training courses
  • Introductory days for non-members
  • Demonstrations at events

  1. Definitions

“The Club”, “we”, “us”, “our” means Centaur Sporting Club.
“Academy” means Centaur Sporting Academy Ltd, whose insurance arrangements may apply to Club activities.
“You”, “your” means any person booking, attending, supervising, or participating in a Club activity.
“Participant” means any person taking part in a Club activity.
“Guest” means any non-member attending a Club activity, including introductory days and demonstrations.
“Venue” or “Range” means any range, ground, facility, or event site used for the activity, including partner venues.

  1. Scope of Activities

The Club organises sporting and training activities which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Matches and competitions
  • Skills training sessions
  • Structured training courses
  • Introductory days for non-members
  • Demonstrations at third-party or public events

Some activities may involve firearms, ammunition, physical movement, noise exposure, and strict safety procedures. By attending, you acknowledge the nature of these activities and agree to follow all instructions given by Club staff, instructors, range officers, and venue staff.

  1. Booking and Registration

Bookings or registrations may be made by online form, email, approved booking platform, or any other method communicated by the Club.

A place is not confirmed until:

  • the Club has accepted the booking or registration; and
  • any required payment or deposit has been received.

The Club may limit places for safety, supervision, or venue capacity reasons.

For some events, all participants must complete a disclaimer, waiver, health declaration, or other registration documentation before taking part.

  1. Payments

Where a fee is payable, payment terms will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Full payment may be required in advance;
  • A deposit may be required to secure a place; and
  • Any balance must be paid by the deadline given by the club.

The Club reserves the right to cancel a booking or refuse attendance if payment has not been received in full by the required date.

  1. Cancellations by You

If you cancel your place, any refund or transfer will be at the Club’s discretion unless specific cancellation terms were provided at the time of booking.

As a general rule:

  • Cancellations made with reasonable notice, being 14 days or more before the event, may be offered a transfer or partial refund;
  • Late cancellations, being within 14 days of the event, may result in the loss of some or all fees paid, depending on the circumstances;
  • Non-attendance without notice will normally be treated as a no-show, and no refund will be given.

Any cancellation request must be made in writing to the Club.

  1. Cancellation or Changes by the Club

The Club may cancel, postpone, relocate, or alter an activity where reasonably necessary, including for:

  • Unsafe weather;
  • Safety concerns;
  • Insufficient numbers;
  • Instructor or official unavailability;
  • Venue restrictions;
  • Equipment issues;
  • Legal or regulatory requirements; or
  • Other circumstances outside the club’s control.

Where this happens, the Club may offer, at its discretion:

  • A transfer to another date;
  • A credit; or
  • A refund of fees paid for that activity.

The Club will not be responsible for indirect costs such as travel, accommodation, loss of earnings, or other consequential losses.

Where reasonably possible, the Club will give at least 7 days’ notice of cancellation or significant change. However, where cancellation or change is required at shorter notice for safety or other circumstances outside the Club’s control, the Club may do so without giving 7 days’ notice.

  1. Arrival and Attendance

You must arrive in sufficient time for registration, briefing, and equipment checks. The Club may specify a required arrival time for particular events.

Late arrival may result in:

  • Reduced participation time;
  • Inability to join the activity safely; or
  • Refusal of participation.

In such cases, fees may be forfeited.

  1. Participant Suitability and Right to Refuse Participation

The Club reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or stop participation where it reasonably believes that a person:

  • Is under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
  • Is acting unsafely;
  • Is not properly equipped or dressed;
  • Is medically unfit to participate;
  • Fails to follow instructions;
  • Poses a risk to themselves or others; or
  • Is not legally permitted to take part in the activity.

If participation is refused for these reasons, this may be treated as a cancellation with no refund.

  1. Health, Fitness, and Personal Responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring that you are fit and able to participate safely.

You must tell the Club, before the activity starts, about any relevant medical condition, injury, disability, or other issue that may affect safe participation.

Participation is at your own risk. While the Club will take reasonable steps to provide a safe environment, all sporting and shooting-related activities carry inherent risks.

You agree:

  • To listen to and follow all safety instructions;
  • Not to act recklessly or beyond your level of competence;
  • To use equipment only as instructed; and
  • To stop immediately if directed by an instructor, range officer, or event official.

  1. Safety Rules

All participants, guests, and spectators must comply with all Club safety rules and with any rules imposed by the venue.

Where firearms or live firing are involved:

  • No one may handle firearms or ammunition without permission;
  • All range commands and instructions must be obeyed immediately;
  • Ear and eye protection must be worn when required;
  • Only authorised equipment may be used; and
  • Any unsafe behaviour may result in immediate removal from the activity or venue.

The decision of the instructor, range officer, or appointed event official on safety matters is final.

  1. Legal Eligibility and Prohibited Persons

Where an activity involves firearms or ammunition, you are responsible for ensuring that you are legally entitled to participate.

By attending such an activity, you confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, you are not prohibited by law from possessing, handling, or using firearms or ammunition, including under section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968, where applicable.

If you are unsure, you must seek advice before attending.

  1. Identification

For some activities or venues, valid identification may be required. If identification is required, this will be communicated in advance.

Failure to produce required identification may result in refusal of participation.

Where applicable, identification may also form part of the membership application process.

  1. Age Restrictions and Under 18s

The Club may set minimum age requirements for particular activities.

Anyone under 18 may only attend or participate:

  • With prior approval from the Club where required;
  • Under the supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult approved by the Club; and
  • Where the relevant waiver or consent forms have been completed.

The parent or legal guardian is responsible for the conduct and safety of the child.

  1. Non-Member Introductory Days and Demonstrations

Non-members attending introductory days or demonstration events must comply with these Terms and all instructions given on the day.

Attendance at an introductory or demonstration event does not create Club membership, ongoing rights, or guaranteed future participation.

The Club reserves the right to limit which activities non-members may undertake.

  1. Courses and Certification

For training courses, completion of or attendance on a course does not automatically entitle a participant to a certificate.

Certificates may only be issued where the participant:

  • Completes the required elements of the course;
  • Demonstrates an adequate understanding of the content; and
  • Meets any applicable safety or competence standards.

The Club reserves the right not to issue certification where those standards are not met.

  1. Photography, Filming, and Media

For safety, privacy, and venue control reasons, photography, filming, or recording may be restricted at Club activities.

Unless the Club gives permission:

  • No unauthorised photography, filming, or covert recording is permitted during training or live-fire activities; and
  • Recorded material must not be used in a misleading, unsafe, or commercially exploitative way.

Where the Club or an authorised partner takes photographs or video, these may be used for Club promotion, reporting, or social media unless you notify the Club in advance that you object.

If you provide photographs, video, or testimonials to the Club, you confirm that you have the right to share them and that the Club may use them for promotional purposes unless agreed otherwise.

  1. Intellectual Property

Any course materials, written content, handouts, presentations, and training resources provided by the Club remain the intellectual property of the Club and/or the relevant rights holder.

They may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, published, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

  1. Conduct

Participants and guests must behave respectfully towards:

  • Club officials;
  • Instructors;
  • Venue staff;
  • Other participants; and
  • Members of the public.

The Club may remove any person whose behaviour is unsafe, abusive, disruptive, discriminatory, or likely to damage the reputation of the Club or the venue.

  1. Venue Rules

Where activities are held at partner venues, all venue rules must also be followed.

The Club may rely on venue staff and venue rules in managing safety and conduct. A breach of venue rules may be treated as a breach of these Terms.

  1. Property and Equipment

You are responsible for your own personal property, equipment, clothing, and vehicles.

The Club accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal property unless caused by its negligence.

You may be held responsible for damage caused by your misuse of Club, venue, or third-party equipment or property.

  1. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence;
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • Any other liability which cannot legally be excluded.

Subject to the above, the Club shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential loss;
  • Loss of profit, earnings, opportunity, or enjoyment;
  • Travel or accommodation costs; or
  • Losses arising from cancellation or alteration of an activity outside the club’s reasonable control.

Any liability of the Club arising from a paid booking shall, so far as permitted by law, be limited to the amount paid for that activity.

  1. Insurance

Centaur Sporting Club operates its activities with the benefit of relevant insurance arrangements held under Centaur Sporting Academy Ltd, where applicable.

Nothing in these Terms should be read as extending insurance cover beyond the terms, conditions, exclusions, and limits of the applicable policy.

Participants remain responsible for ensuring that any personal insurance they require is in place.

  1. Complaints

If you have a complaint, you should raise it with a Club official or instructor as soon as possible on the day so that the issue can be addressed promptly.

If the matter is not resolved, complaints should be submitted in writing within 21 days of the activity, with full details.

The Club will investigate complaints reasonably and in good faith.

  1. Data Protection

The Club will process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR, where applicable.

Personal data will be used for purposes such as:

  • Administering bookings and attendance;
  • Safety and emergency contact;
  • Event management;
  • Certification records, where relevant; and
  • Communication about club activities.

Information will only be shared where reasonably necessary, including with instructors, venue operators, officials, or insurers.

  1. Force Majeure

The Club shall not be responsible for failure or delay in performing its obligations where caused by events outside its reasonable control, including:

  • Severe weather;
  • Government restrictions;
  • Venue closure;
  • Industrial action;
  • Public disorder;
  • Equipment or supply disruption; or
  • Illness outbreaks or similar events.

In such cases, the Club will use reasonable efforts to rearrange the activity, but shall not be liable for additional losses or expenses.

  1. Changes to These Terms

The Club may amend these Terms from time to time. The latest version will apply to future bookings and activities once published or otherwise communicated.

  1. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

  1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
