With a mindset forged from the combination of his military service, competitive sports, practical shooting, and decisive leadership and instructional roles across multiple industries, Ben brings a disciplined, detail-oriented, and self-critical mindset to everything he does.

He is passionate about raising standards, fostering a positive and professional image of practical shooting, and creating environments where competitors can develop confidence and camaraderie in an open and welcoming environment.

Firearms Experience

1995

Began shooting at age 13 in the Cadets, training on .22 and 5.56 rifles

Later served as a military paratrooper with extensive small-arms experience

Returned to shooting in 2012 through clay disciplines before discovering IPSC in Brno, Czech Republic

2019

Won the New Competitor Award at his first match (Bisley)

Completed the UKPSA Safety Course

Began competing in IPSC Level 3 matches nationwide

2022

Joined a practical shooting team, contributing to competitor development and competing internationally.

Mentorship from former world champion Josh Kenny helped elevate performance to regular podium finishes.

2023

Focused on training for the Shotgun World Shoot IV in Thailand, placing 69th in Standard and achieving a top-100 finish goal.

2024

Transitioned to Mini Rifle, Focused on rifle stagecraft, leveraging natural rifle background.

Instruction & Teaching Experience

2000
Early beginnings in instruction

At age 20, assisted in training new recruits on sustained GPMG fire during military service, marking an early foundation in instruction and coaching.

2005
Post-military international work

Trained contractors in civil engineering, recognising a stronger passion for helping individuals develop and grow.

2009
PADI Diving Instructor

Completed PADI Instructor certification in Lanzarote, teaching students of all ages and abilities and gaining strong fulfilment from helping individuals overcome fears and achieve personal goals.

2011
Construction & civil engineering

Trained teams in major infrastructure projects while mentoring young engineers and managers, continuing to focus on building strong teams and individuals.

IPSC Training programme development

Through participant surveys, identified a lack of structured training in dynamic shooting sports

This led to development of progressive programmes supporting newcomers building competition confidence and experienced competitors in targeting podium-level performance.

Competition Mindset

Healthy competition has been a lifelong driver, motivating personal excellence and supporting others along the way.
Rugby

Began playing rugby at age 9 in Lincolnshire, competing nationally and internationally, including a tour in France.

Continued during military service and represented Qatar RUFC in an international match in Dubai (1998).

Athletics & Swimming

Competed at county level in Field Athletics and Swimming, achieving consistent podium finishes through dedication and progression.

Boxing

Competed at ages 15–16 for Qatar.

Faced older opponents, building resilience and focus under pressure.

Military challenges

Completed pre-parachute training

Mentally and physically exhausting, with focus on endurance and Stamina.

IPSC discovery

Found the combination of friendly rivalry and camaraderie deeply resonated.

Ongoing fitness

Works with PT to develop, focus and maintain goals and accountability.
